This new book was featured on Reformed Forum in December of 2025

This book challenges common misconceptions, showing that repentance isn’t about earning God’s favor but experiencing the freedom Christ purchased. Rather than focusing on guilt, Perkins emphasizes how repentance allows believers to enjoy the ‘twofold benefit’ of Christ―justification and progressive sanctification.

“Harrison Perkins has written a significant book that not only presents a convincing account of Ussher’s theology but also offers clear instruction in how to distill and analyze complex and multi-language theological and historical sources. As scholars of early modern British religious history think about how to research and write in a more interdisciplinary manner, this study of James Ussher points a way forward.” – Bruce Gordan, Yale Divinity School, Church History (source)

“In Presbyterianism, Miller offers a brief and accessible case for the doctrines, worship, and government of the Presbyterian church. Thanks to this newly annotated edition, prefaced by a helpful introduction to Miller’s life and to the context and contents of Presbyterianism, readers will be able to appreciate the deep learning that Miller invested in this little manual.” – Guy Prentiss Waters, James M. Baird, Jr. Professor of New Testament, Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, MS
